An online identity can be created in many different ways, but if your online you have an online identity even if it is small. However your online identity can be develop through photos you post, things you like or follow, the language you use, who you are friend or connected with, what types of social media platforms you are on or even who you interact with.

Benefits:

  • Identity is not restricted to one social media platform
  • Using the same name or username for multiple platforms
  • You can link multiple social media platforms to creative an in depth online identity
  • Using different platforms for different uses eg. professional=linkedin; social=Facebook
  • You have a chose over the perception portrayed about you

Limitations:

  • Having a knowledge of Copyright rules and legislation
  • Being connected and tagged in things that you don’t want connected with your profile
  • Peoples perception of you can be restricted to only what you post online
  • Give away rights through posting and photos on the term and conditions of using certain sites
